VNC Founder Scott H. Silverman Discusses Veteran Hotel Voucher Program on Fox 5 KUSI San Diego

Veterans Navigation Center Founder Scott H. Silverman appeared on KUSI San Diego KUSI Fox 5 Morning News this week to discuss a positive development that is affecting San Diego's most vulnerable veterans.

Along with the positive news that  veteran homelessness is dropping approximately 25% in San Diego over the course of the last year, there is a pilot program to provide hotel vouchers to homeless veterans. District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond is spearheading the program.

Interventionist and CEO of Confidential Recovery Scott was enthusiastic about the efforts, but pointed out that "[Housing is] half the solution, the other half is treatment, stability, overall mental health support. And, families need something different than single men or single women do." The good news is that the same program is trying to also secure funds for rental assistance, case management, and employment assistance.
